Cons of Jail-breaking PS3 ?
1: Old firmware:-
It would take a lot of time to have the firmware of your PS3 upgraded, since you would need to wait the
developers to release a patch for every new firmware update, and that happens in long time intervals.
Which means, you would always have an old firmware update.
2: No PSN:-
On a jailbroken PS3 you wouldn’t be able to sign in to PSN since it requires the latest firmware. Knowing
that firmware is being updated on a regular basis by Sony, in order to patch the jailbreak vulnerabilities.
And in result of that, you wouldn’t be getting any security or game updates from PSN, thought Multiman
might be a good alternative.
3: No cloud storage, PS Plus or online gaming:-
Since you wouldn’t be able to sign in to PSN, you wouldn’t be able to use Play Station Plus, thereby it’s
not recommended to jailbreak your PS3 in case you’ve already purchased PS Plus, unless it expired. On a
jailbroken device you also wouldn’t be able to use the cloud storage service, neither game online,
because you’d be permanently banned in case you go online while jailbreak is active. In conclusion, by
jailbreaking your PS3, you may play in offline mode only, you wouldn’t get any updates and also many
services would be disabled.
Your warranty would be void in case you send your PS3 to repair whilst having jailbreak active, so you’d
need to remove jailbreak before sending the PS3 to repair in order to keep the warranty active.
